Parents may start volunteer hours early! You may come in between the hours of 9-5 on Mondays through Thursdays until 7/27/17 to assist the custodians with getting our school cleaned and ready for teachers and students!  Please do not bring children with you, be sure to sign-in, and ask for Mr. Caldwell upon your arrival.  We have had several parents to get started already!!

Please review these very important back to school tidbits:

Open house will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.  This year will be handled differently than in the past.  We would like to serve you better and faster with a new process.  PreK-2nd grade Open House will be held from 8:30-11:30.  3rd-5th grade Open House will be held from 1:30-4:00.  If your PreK-2nd grade child/children have older siblings, you may take care of the older siblings during the 8:30-11:30 time slot.  Hopefully this new process will allow us to work faster to serve you.  As always, please be patient and respectful the to the school staff as they work hard to get you completed.  On the day of Open House, please remember to bring cash to pay for PTA membership dues and your child's agenda planner.  ($10 per family for PTA membership and $10 per agenda).  **PTA membership and agenda planners are a requirement for every family and child at Oakcliff Theme School.

4. First Week of School

First Day of school is August 7, 2017.  The doors will open at 7:00 am.  Parents will be able to walk students to classes on the first 3 days only (August 7th, 8th, and 9th).  After August 9th, parents must stop in the front lobby unless going to front office or to pay for lunch/breakfast in the cafeteria.  All visits to teachers must have an appointment and an approval to go to classes.  

Please follow the school's traffic flow plan for car rider drop-off and car-rider dismissal (available to you during Open House).  There can be no left turns into the school driveway in the mornings and in the afternoons.  Car rider dismissal is usually very long the first week or two of school. Please be patient and stay in your cars until your child is released to you.  You will not be allowed to come into the building to get your child during dismissal.  Also, there are no early check-outs after 1:30. 

If you are applying for free/reduced breakfast and lunch, you must pay the full price for each child until your application as been approved.  Last year's breakfast price was $1.40 and lunch was $2.50.  Updated prices may be available prior to school starting.  You may apply for free/reduced rates online at http://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/school-nutrition/fr-meal-applications/
