My Name is Shohreh Mirfendereski, and I am originally from Iran. I
came to the United States in 1985. I am married and have 3 children ages
24, 26, and 28. My husband is a retired Mechanical Engineer who designed
jet engines. Our kids got their educations from Georgia Tech and UGA. My
hobbies are reading, walking, and watching documentaries. The last book
that I read and loved was Sapien. My favorite sports to watch are soccer and synchronized swimming.
Teaching at any level has always been my dream profession,
but after having my kids I fell in love with teaching young children. I
have started working in Dekalb County a year after we moved from
Connecticut in 1998. I believe strongly that all children can learn, and
that all we need to do is to expose them to new concepts, ideas,
activities, and to new ways of learning.
I am very fortunate to work at Oakcliff where we have a great
diversity; where all of us, students and adults, are exposed to
different cultures. This year my students are from 4 different
continents!! That is truly a slice of the world. I am very involved in
the international activities such as celebrating the Hispanic Heritage
Month and the Asian New Year. I will also be part of the Art Club and the
Parent Club this year.
I am very much looking forward to a great 2016-2017 school year.
