Biography My name is Jay Clancy and I am beginning my 25th year as Oakcliff’s Science Lab Instructor. Shortly after graduating from high school, I was hired as a Flight Attendant with Trans World Airlines and got to travel the world for fifteen years. I decided to change careers after the company filed for bankruptcy, and I became certified to teach in Georgia after completing my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Traveling is my passion and I take advantage of our long breaks to continue to explore our world. I love cruising and my favorite ship is Cunard’s Queen Mary 2. One of my favorite places to visit is Iceland, where they have the best hot dogs in the world! My biggest accomplishments as an Oakcliff educator were being awarded Teacher of the Year in 2007 and winning the 2009 Intel Elementary School Science of Distinction Award for our outstanding science program. I try to help out around Oakcliff in every way I can, and I’m privileged to have the opportunity to lead the Safety Patrol Squad each year. I have seen so many changes to our school over my career, but there is one thing that remains constant – the children of this school are truly the best kids anywhere – and I am fortunate to work in a school with such great families that care so much about education!--- "Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change." – Stephen Hawking |
