DCSD is seeking stakeholder input on their preferences and perspectives for learning models and hybrid options that the school district is considering for the reopening of schools. This feedback includes stakeholders' level of comfort with social distancing and hygiene efforts, school bus transportation, serving meals, taking temperature, access to technology and internet at home, and the use of masks at school. The survey is open from Tues., June 9, until Sun., June 21, 2020. Click HERE to take the survey. Thank you for your time.

Summer Resources

Dear parents and students,
What apps and things will be available this summer?  Students can work on most Clever apps over the summer, until the passwords and logins change. Here's a breakdown of some of the programs will last and until when.

IXL Math and ELA - will work until Oakcliff's license runs out in September or October of 2020? Science and Social Studies are free for the summer, and may end at IXL's discretional free access during Covid-19.

Clever - holds several apps and links to a variety of websites and online apps. Some are free, while others require a login. As long as your lunch number s9# login works, you can get to the Clever-the-Rocketship-Launchpad and Verge. At some point in the summer, passwords will all jump up one number when the district promotes you.

Verge - holds the courses students were enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year. Those courses and links inside should work until the district promotes students to the next grade & switch their classes. This typically happens late in the summer, and depends on when the school's Assistant Principal does the schedules for the 2020-2021 school year.

Typing Club & Teach Your Monster to Read & TinkerCAD & Code.org - will work through next school year when Ms. Miller will promote everyone and issue new passwords.  All of these programs are available

Happy Numbers & Kodable -- will probably work on the on Verge schedule.

The Oakcliff Faculty and Staff hope everyone is able to use these resources over the summer. We look forward to seeing everyone as soon as it is safe. Until then, happy online learning and social distancing this summer.

Important Information for 2020-21 School Choice Lottery

Dr. PaschallGreetings Parents!

As previously shared, we are on track with the 2020 lottery. We know you are excited and we are excited for you! We all need a little excitement right now, so why not the School Choice Lottery? Please be mindful of the information below as we move through the selection phase of the lottery process.
    1.    On Friday, March 27, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. you may log into your application dashboard to see your lottery results.
    2.    Email notifications will go out starting at 5:00 p.m. Please note that due to the volume of emails generated, everyone will not receive their email at the same time. The software releases in waves. Again, you may check your dashboard at 5:00 p.m. for immediate results.?
    3.    It is highly recommended that you check your inbox and junk/spam folder. Please don't miss out because you did not check!
If your child is selected:
    •    Read the entire selection email.
    •    You must log into your dashboard and accept the seat within 5 business days or the seat will automatically decline and go to the next applicant on the waitlist. Once it's gone, it's gone.
    •    Do not attempt to accept or decline on your cell phone, the platform is not set up for mobile use. This can result in mistakenly clicking the wrong selection. Again, once a seat is gone, it's gone.
    •    If your child is selected for more than one program, whichever program you accept will decline all other offers. Please make sure you are certain before you click accept. Once the others are gone, they're gone.
    •    Due to the current circumstances, there is no set date(s) for registration. Once the registration dates have been determined, you will receive correspondence via this same platform (email). It is critical that you check your email regularly for correspondence.
    •    If you do not accept the seat and register once the dates are announced, your child's name will be placed on the "no show" list and the seat will go to the next applicant on the waitlist.?
If your child is waitlisted:
    •    The waitlist moves as applicants decline seats. We have no way of determining when or if your number will come up.?
    •    Patience, patience, patience. Things often change throughout the Spring and Summer, such as applicants declining seats and families moving away, which opens up seats. All is not lost if you are not selected tomorrow!

Please remember that this is an exciting, as well as an emotional time of year for parents seeking School Choice options for their children. We cannot stress enough that for every action, there is a reaction. If you allow your acceptance window to pass and the seat automatically declines, please understand that the software will immediately move up the next person on the waitlist. We must be fair to everyone.

Dr. Paschall¡Saludos Padres!
